This piece is not in line with my normal work but I made an exception as it was actually a present for someone.
This piece is meant to represent the HMS Victory, features some original timber from the actual ship and took me 15 hours to complete.
When I was sourcing materials for this project I was lucky enough to get hold of a piece of original oak from the HMS Victory, that I have inlayed at the top of the stick. I paid particular attention to the handle which I shaped to represent the bow of the ship. For the lower half of the stick I hand carved a raised ridge that twists around to the bottom. I finished this piece by adding brass collars along the shaft to create a classic look. In terms of wood I used a combination of recycled oak, hyedua, and sycamore.

Amazing wood work! The handle is simple and very elegant! I wouldn't mind walking around the town with such a walking stick The history behind it also is magnificent!!
I like everything about this. The handle looks comfortable and inviting, even though it's brand new and without the legacy of HMS Victory, it looks like it's already travelled the world, and ready to go again. I have no need for a stick but I'd like to carry it.
